Spoiler warning!
WWWD? What Would Wednesday Do?
Or in this case, WDWD? What Did Wednesday Do?
On Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, “Wednesday” season two released with a new story plot and mysteries. It came out in two parts, the first four episodes coming out on Aug. 6, and the second part coming out on Sept. 3. The first season included actors Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galphin), Percy Hynes White (Xavier Thorpe), and many more.
Season one was unexpected in the best way possible. I loved that such an innocent character turned into such a monster at the end of the season. To give context, Wednesday, the main character – a member of the iconic Addams family – is enrolled into Nevermore Academy; a school for outcasts. Due to murder happening around the town of Jericho, Wednesday decides to solve the case and finds out that Tyler Galpin, her decent friend and barista, is the Hyde, a monster-like creature and the killer. Her teacher Mrs. Thornhill (acted by Christina Ricci) is also discovered to be Galpin’s master. I was shocked when I found this out; however, after further thinking, I realized that it was a little cliche. It’s the definition of a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” so while I was excited about the plot twist, it was a little disappointing. Yet, the ending scene of Wednesday receiving a mysterious message from a suspicious texter/stalker made up for it. I was hooked from them on, and couldn’t wait to watch season two.
I really loved season two. To recap the new season, Wednesday practiced her psychic powers over the summer, but had been getting strange visions of Enid’s death. Wednesday comes back to Nevermore Academy, not to learn but to uncover more secrets that her academy had buried. I didn’t like the possibility of Enid dying because she is such an important character. I would have preferred if it was someone I disliked such as Tyler so I wasn’t happy about this plot line.
Additionally, the stalker that first appeared at the end of season one turned out to be Agnes DeMille (played by Evie Templeton). In the beginning, I didn’t like her because she didn’t have an original personality. She was Wednesday’s shadow, which bothered me. Agnes’s character did develop after episode seven. She was able to go to therapy and significantly redeem herself as a character.
One thing that I really enjoyed is the dance scene between Enid and Agnes in the second part. Their rivalry getting put aside and helping each other was so heartwarming, and I truly enjoyed the dance. Lady Gaga’s new song matched the theme so well, and overall it was an awesome scene to watch. One thing that I disliked in this series, however, was the relationship between Franciose and Isaac. I feel like their relationship was weird and awkward to watch on the screen, and it was honestly a little disturbing to see how they completely ignored Tyler when they were together.
Despite the fact that some aspects made me a bit uncomfortable, I enjoyed the new season. Season one was definitely more organized and clear in terms of the plot. Season two had too many subplots which resulted in some confusion. Yet the added creepiness compared to season one completely engaged me. It was definitely out there but it stood out and made you get hooked.
Season three has been confirmed to be on Netflix; production probably starting at the end of 2025. I’m really excited for it after looking at the cliffhanger of Season 2. I feel like we’re going to learn a lot more about Wednesday’s aunt, Goody, and her motives as well. I’m curious about what happened to Enid after her transformation, and what will happen to Tyler since he doesn’t have his master anymore.
To answer the question I asked at the beginning, Wednesday sets off with her uncle to find Enid after she went missing. I am super excited to learn more about Wednesday’s family and what Goody Addams is planning to do in the future. For now, we shall stay on our toes as we wait for the new season!
